New faculty for CVHSI

We are delighted to announce our core faculty hire for Science, Melissa Grella. Melissa has extensive experience teaching a vast range of outdoor, environmental and science education for NH Audubon, the Appalachian Mountain Club, Vermont Leadership Center (now Northwoods Stewardship Center) and as a formal teacher in both college and high school settings.

Melissa Grella

She is an alumna of the former Audubon Expedition Institute’s bus program and spent two years working with others toward re-launching the program. She is now completing her doctoral dissertation in environmental studies at Antioch New England where she is exploring how Waldorf Education cultivates an ethic of care for nature. She has substantial administrative experience with learning initiatives with great strengths in building and strengthening communities. Melissa has experience in expedition education and has enjoyed leading students on canoeing and backpacking adventures. In addition, she’s an avid Nordic skier and has a love for open water, distance swimming. She comes to us from nearby Lancaster, NH where she lives with her husband, Kyle, and their fluffy, black cat Haiku. Melissa is excited to have the opportunity to merge her passion for both Waldorf Education and the outdoors and looks forward to working at the Central Vermont High School Initiative.
